Cozy Beach Bungalow Project Reveal
When asked to marry design styles for a newly married couple in Point Pleasant, NJ, we were happy to help. The challenge was to blend her more subdued traditional taste with his love of bold color to create a home that would reflect both owner’s personalities. Since the couple had been living with only a few pieces from their college years, we had an opportunity to purchase everything from the furniture to the accessories for the living room and back office.

They really wanted their house to feel updated and homey, bright and cheerful, to reflect both of their different design styles as well as their personalities. Making the small spaces family and pet friendly, and multi-functional as they often work from home and would like to entertain more was a must. In the office, they needed more shelving for books and to have a comfortable seating area for reading, additional lighting and also a work space for paperwork and other tasks.
We worked with a modest budget and tight spaces. Also, they really wanted comfortable seating for lounging and reading or enjoying a movie, pet friendly fabrics, shelving, and low-maintenance plants as they don’t have much experience with caring for plants. Taking into consideration the modest size of the home, the couples need for a family/pet friendly space, and their must have chaise lounge, we utilized occasional tables with rounded edges and chose a streamlined chaise sectional with slim arms and a high-performance fabric. Katy created a beautiful custom botanical wallpaper for the living room inspired by their wedding invitations and honeymoon to the Greek Isles.
We created a music corner to feature our client’s extensive vinyl record collection. Bringing some plants and a few pieces that had been collected over time turned this into our favorite corner in the house. Elissa also photographed the couple’s beloved rescue dog, Lacey, for a fun art piece in the space.
When we came across this 1920’s vintage side table we couldn’t resist converting it into a kitchen island for increased prep counter space and storage. The result is a fresh space with pops of color, original art, and texture, bringing character to every nook of this cozy beach bungalow.
